A fresh K-drama is getting ready to hit the screen next month. Azure Spring brings together Red Velvet member Kim Ye Rim (Yeri) and actor Kang Sang Jun for a story about young people trying to find their way. The show focuses on two broken individuals who find comfort and a new purpose by the sea.
The drama is set against the beautiful islands of Hallyeohaesang National Park in Tongyeong. It is based on a popular webtoon written by Jang Deok Hyeon. Jung Hun Soo, known for his work on Twelve Nights and Branding in Seongsu, is directing this new project. The series is produced by Oz Arena and Studio Dal.
The show falls under the life and youth genre, often described as a healing drama. It aims to show how people can grow and heal when they connect with nature and each other.

Azure Spring will premiere on May 11. The first episode will air at 11 p.m. KST on the South Korean channel MBN Plus. For viewers in South Korea, the drama will also be available on the same day at 11:30 p.m. on major OTT platforms like Wavve and TVING.

For other parts of the world, the drama will be available on Viu in select countries. There is also a chance that Viki might add the series to its library after the release, as it often does with new K-dramas.

Meet the Main Cast of Azure Spring
The show features a small but strong main cast. Here are the two leads:
Kim Ye Rim (Yeri) as Seo An Na: Yeri plays a former national youth athlete. An Na’s sports career ended because of a serious injury. Her dreams are shattered, and she feels lost about her future. She decides to go to her mother’s hometown, where she meets Deok Hyun and starts a new dream of becoming a professional swimmer and haenyeo (female diver).
Kang Sang Jun as Yoon Deok Hyeon: Kang plays a former special forces soldier. Deok Hyun lives a quiet and simple life in a seaside village. He keeps his distance from others because of a dark rumor that calls him a “murderer.” He works as a haenam (male diver) and becomes An Na’s guide, helping her learn to dive and gather seafood.
Information about the supporting cast has not been released by the production team yet.

What to Expect from the Story
Azure Spring tells the story of two people who are stuck in their lives for different reasons. Seo An Na cannot move forward because she is afraid of the future. Her injury took away her identity as an athlete. Yoon Deok Hyun is trapped in the past and cannot escape the rumors that follow him.
The sea plays a big role in the drama. It is not just a background. The water becomes a place for them to face their fears. As they learn to dive and collect seafood, they start to heal. The show also features dishes made with fresh local ingredients from the Tongyeong sea, adding another layer to the story.
A teaser for the show recently came out. It shows Seo An Na returning to her hometown after losing her part-time job at a swimming pool. She meets Yoon Deok Hyun, and an unexpected living situation begins. Deok Hyun comforts her with simple but strong words.
“There are many people in the world who can’t swim. Does that mean your life is ruined just because you can’t?”
An Na later thinks about her journey and says, “Life’s unpredictable, but that’s okay. Our today is azure spring.”
Fans of K-dramas looking for a slow, healing story are excited about this show. Many are looking forward to seeing Yeri take on a serious role as a haenyeo. Viewers are also curious to see the chemistry between Yeri and Kang Sang Jun. Kang recently gained more attention for being the husband of Lee Sona, the winner of Miss Trot 4.
