Comedian Samay Raina has officially announced a major collaboration with Netflix, ending weeks of speculation from cryptic social media posts. The streaming platform confirmed on June 19, 2026, that they are partnering with Raina for two major projects: the return of India’s Got Latent Season 2 and a brand-new stand-up comedy special currently in development.
The announcement brings relief to fans who have been waiting for the comedian’s next move. The first season of India’s Got Latent was pulled from YouTube following a massive controversy involving guest Ranveer Allahbadia in February 2025. Despite facing multiple FIRs and legal challenges, Raina promised during his Still Alive stand-up special that the show would return. That promise is now becoming a reality.
A First-of-Its-Kind Dual Release Strategy
India’s Got Latent Season 2 will premiere on June 20, 2026, at 7:00 PM IST. In a surprising move, the show will be simulcast on both Netflix and YouTube simultaneously. New episodes will drop every two weeks.
The decision to release on both platforms is being called a “first-of-its-kind” strategy in the Indian entertainment industry. It allows Raina to keep his loyal YouTube audience while reaching a global Netflix subscriber base.
In the announcement promo, Raina joked that everything will remain the same. He said the show will stay unfiltered, with swearing intact. The only differences on Netflix are no ads and no comment section. Raina’s friend and fellow comedian Balraj joked about the move, saying Raina had betrayed the platform where he started. Raina’s bodyguard then stepped in, saying, “One has to do it for money.”
New Stand-Up Special in Development
Netflix also confirmed that Samay Raina is working on an all-new stand-up comedy special that will be released exclusively on the platform. Details about the title and release date have not been announced yet. The special is expected to feature Raina’s signature style of observational comedy, personal stories, and sharp humour.
Raina has emerged as one of India’s most influential comedy voices in recent years. He first gained prominence after winning the second season of the stand-up competition show Comicstaan in 2019. Since then, he has expanded his presence through stand-up specials, podcasts, gaming streams, and reality-format content.
The Controversy That Shut Down Season 1
The return of India’s Got Latent comes more than a year after the show was pulled from YouTube. The controversy began when guest Ranveer Allahbadia made an offensive remark during an episode. He asked a contestant a highly inappropriate question involving their parents, sparking widespread backlash. Multiple FIRs were filed, and the National Commission for Women intervened. Allahbadia later submitted a written apology and received interim protection from arrest from the Supreme Court.
During his Still Alive special, Raina addressed the controversy. He said the inappropriate question had been asked eight times during recording. He claimed he removed most of the inappropriate content, leaving only one instance. He also spoke about the guilt he felt when fellow comedians received death threats and legal notices.
Raina and Allahbadia later had their first on-screen reunion since the row on The Great Indian Kapil Show, which streams on Netflix.

The new season is expected to maintain the same raw and unpredictable energy that made it a hit. Raina has promised the show will stay “no filter.” Adding to the excitement, leaked photos from the sets recently surfaced online, showing Alpha stars Alia Bhatt and Sharvari on the India’s Got Latent stage. While neither Netflix nor the makers have confirmed their appearance, reports suggest they could feature in the opening episode to promote their upcoming film.
